It’s been several years since I purchased this yoga mat on the advice of a friend, and…the mat has outlasted the friendship! It’s still in near-perfect condition, though I use it constantly for yoga and other workout activities. It’s cushy but firm enough that it doesn’t cause imbalance. I love it! Would also recommend getting the travel sling with pouch that Manduka offers, 100% worth the purchase.I took a chance and ordered this Manduka Pro Lite in purple from the Amazon warehouse and the condition stated some damage and condition was just ok at best. I don’t remember how Amazon phrased it but I was uncertain as if I would keep it but when I received the yoga mat, I rolled it out and it was not damaged but it is a bit dirty on the back as if someone may have used it. Not a problem because the mat came with the original wrapping and there are no chips or slices on the mat. I think I got a great deal and I am so happy took a chance on this mat!I love this mat. It's light enough to lug to and from the yoga studio and still provides good support for the knees! This was my first yoga mat in this price category and so I did quite a bit of research before deciding on this mat, including talking to yoga instructors and students, reading blogs, correspondence with Manduka, as well as the reviews on Amazon. This mat is safe for those with latex allergies, has a lifetime warranty and good grip and support when using. The mat is easy to care for (don't put in a wash machine!) and can be left in the sunshine. I made the decision between the ProLite and the Manduka Pro based on weight and ease of transporting to and from the yoga studio; If you primarily practice at home or the mat would be stationary, then the Manduka Pro may be the better choice. Also if you can carry around 7 pounds and you have significant joint problems the Manduka Pro may be a better option...but for most people, the cushion and support of the Manduka Prolite is probably sufficient and the lighter 4 pounds is easier to transport. I ruled out the Jade mat as it does not have a lifetime warranty and from what I have read and been told, be prepared to replace it every 1-3 years. Manduka and Jade have the highest ratings overall and so those where the main contenders in my search for the right mat. I would have considered a rubber mat, but I have latex allergies. My experience with using this mat is that at first it was slightly slippery as others have mentioned. But in my experience it quickly got "grippy" with just washing down after use with a mat cleaner and paper towel...I didn't not do the salt treatment or make any other extra efforts. I have had the "sensation" of slipping on this mat, but my hands and feet were secure and were not moving. This mat WILL be slippery in a Hot class as it is dense and the sweat doesn't absorb into the mat, but the very simple solution is to buy and use a mat towel; I recommend the Manduka eQua, wet down with water. I do not slip in Hot yoga classes using a mat towel and this mat. The mat gives more support (cushion) to joints than other mats I've used, but is dense (stiff) enough that I can do balance poses easily. I have had to adjust how I move on this mat as I can not slip my feet or hands around on it if they aren't in the position I want. This has taken some getting used to, but being more mindful of the placement of my body on the mat is probably making my positions better overall. As with all sports equipment, individuals will have difference preferences, but after much research and my own experience I would highly recommend this mat!(One last note that I was initially confuse about...the Manduka Black Pro mat and the Manduka Pro colored mats are exactly the same except for the color.)I have recently stepped up my yoga practice and I wanted a comfortable mat. My old mat was a basic thin Gaiam mat that served it's purpose on hardwood floors, but I needed something that wouldn't slide and bunch up on carpet. When researching for the best mat I could buy, I came across three that were contenders: the Manduka Prolite, the Manduka Pro, and the Jade Harmony. I decided to purchase the Prolite because it is non-latex, lighter than the Pro, and has a great warranty. The Jade Harmony was not latex free (I have an allergy) and didn't include a lifetime warranty.I purchased the Thrive color in 71'. The color is a deeper emerald green and I really like the color against the black logo. As for the length, I am 5'7 and I find that the extra few inches make a difference in my practice. The cushion and support this mat offers is better than I have ever experienced with any of my five prior $20 mats. Further, it is pretty light and I could definitely take this to a studio when not practicing at home.My mat arrived in fine condition but with a little indent from where the label was. Given the price, I was annoyed but I let it go. I jumped on the mat quickly after I opened it to test out the slippage and I really didn't experience anything more than I have on my prior mats. In down dog, I do feel my hands slide slightly, but I know with time (or a salt treatment), this should wear away. (Should it not, I will update my review). I was SUPER nervous based on other reviews about slipping during practice, but I just completed a 20 min. intermediate vinyasa flow with no issues. One tip I have is DO NOT store the mat in a wire basket. I stored it rolled-up and vertical in a wire basket and the bottom end (the edges of the mat) became a little dented from the pressure.I would definitely re-purchase but I would probably shop around on price. While this color was on sale, there are other colors elsewhere that are even cheaper. For that reason, I give four stars. This mat is great, but it didn't blow my mind. (I am hoping to update this review to 5 stars should my mind change through practice). After shredding 2 cheaper mats in the past 12 months, I decided to treat myself to a more expensive one in the hope that it would last. After some research, I decided to plummet for a Manduka mat as I already have the super lite version which I take on my travels and have been really pleased with that one. Only used this one once so far but totally in love with my new mat. I use it for yoga and home workouts and even on it's first use found it to be super 'grippy' even wearing socks. It is cushioned enough to protect my bones and joints from the hard kitchen floor yet firm enough to maintain poses. Great choice of colours available to suit all tastes as as it comes with a lifetime guarantee in the long term it will save me having to buy a new one every 6 months - not to mention saving the environment. No more sweeping up mat crumbs from the floor after each workout! I am a very happy with the quality of mats from Manduka and would definatley recommend. Delivery as per usual from Amazon supplier was superb.????this mat. beautiful to look at. I ordered Gallica can't wait to practice, practice, practice ?First use very good grip more than I was expecting after reading some reviews. I was able to do poses safely. I love this mat!!Love love love. Worth every penny compared to my cheaper one. This still looks brand new after daily use of several months. Love the purple colour. Great cushioning, really thick and comfortable. Took a while to break in to stop it being slippery when you get sweaty so would recommend going the salt scrub instructions!Love this mat. It was delivered in good time as promised. It was as stated and expected a little slippery to begin with but after half a dozen uses I find I am incredibly stable and even though I sweat profusely, with a lot of perspiration always on my mats this seemed to only increase my traction. The only downside (and it is very small) is that the mat is heavy as I suppose it needs to be and so would therefore not be easy for overseas travel. I am therefore now on the hunt for a lighter travel option too.Wanted to replace my old manduka mat that I loved . Was worried as some reviews said it was slippy. So glad I went with my gut as after practicing on it for 3 sessions / hours initial new mat slip gone and the usual mandala grip was there and it does not move on the floor . After 1 week using it / teaching classes I love it . Totally happy .
