Like others commenting here, I was surprised how energetic it was when it unrolled. I cut the edge of my palm, and it flew open forcefully with a cracking noise. But it says so in several places on the packaging to expect this, so I cannot complain. Treat this thing with care and only cut the wrapping when you have the space for it to immediately fling itself open in a fraction of a second or it will hit you.But on the plus side, the extreme rigidity means you won't be waiting forever for it to get flat again after you roll it up (if you ever try), like you do with some PVC mats.This is the best mat I've used, and I love the size, thickness, and durability. I have medium pile carpet in my home office and it is a good size to roll on my chair between two adjacent desks. It provides just the right amount of friction - you will glide smoothly but you won't be slipping around all the time. I'm also a big guy, 250 lb with a heavy Steelcase chair.
